ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how gum disease, known as periodontal disease, relates to rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Researchers want to see if there’s a connection between certain antibodies in the mouth and the severity of both gum disease and rheumatoid arthritis in patients who have RA. By studying the fluid from the gums before and after a non-surgical treatment for gum disease, the trial aims to understand better how these two conditions affect each other.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. You should have at least 8 teeth and meet specific criteria related to your RA. However, if you smoke, have diabetes, are pregnant, have had recent gum treatment, or are taking antibiotics, you won't be eligible to join. If you do participate, you can expect to undergo a non-surgical treatment for your gum disease and provide samples for testing. This research could help improve our understanding of how to manage both conditions better.
