ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how exercise affects heart function in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition where the heart muscle becomes too thick, making it harder for the heart to pump blood. Many people with this condition experience fatigue and shortness of breath during physical activity. The researchers want to understand the reasons behind these symptoms by measuring how well the heart performs during exercise using a special test called a cardiopulmonary exercise test. They will also use non-invasive methods to measure blood flow and heart performance, which will provide valuable insights into how exercise impacts these patients.
To participate in this study, individuals must have a confirmed diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and be receiving appropriate medical treatment. However, those who use long-term oxygen therapy or have other serious health issues that could affect their ability to exercise may not be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo a series of tests while exercising, allowing researchers to gather important information about their heart’s response to physical activity. This study aims to enhance our understanding of how exercise limitations occur in patients with this condition, which could lead to better care in the future.
