ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how listening to music can help reduce stress caused by ethnic discrimination in Turkish immigrant women. The researchers want to see if a personalized music intervention can lower both physical stress reactions (like hormone levels in saliva) and feelings of stress and discrimination after experiencing stressful events in daily life. The study will involve 50 women aged 18 to 65 who have faced chronic discrimination. Participants will be randomly assigned to either listen to music for 10 or 20 minutes or to a control group where they won't listen to music.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be Turkish immigrants (first or second generation) who have experienced significant discrimination. They should be between 18 and 65 years old and female. However, women with certain medical conditions, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who have issues like substance abuse will not be included. The trial lasts 35 days, during which participants will go through different phases, including some time without music and some time with music, to see how it affects their stress levels. This research aims to provide valuable insights into effective ways to support women facing the challenges of discrimination.
