ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the possibility of predicting epileptic seizures by identifying specific odors released by people with epilepsy. Researchers believe that these odors, known as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), can be detected up to three hours before a seizure occurs. By understanding these scents, the goal is to develop a reliable and non-invasive way to alert individuals with epilepsy about an impending seizure, which could help prevent accidents and improve their quality of life.
To participate in the trial, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have drug-resistant epilepsy, meaning their seizures don't respond well to medications. They should have a specific type of seizure, including focal seizures or generalized seizures, and need to undergo a video EEG test for at least 48 hours. Participants will work alongside researchers to help identify the odors associated with their seizures. It's important to note that pregnant or breastfeeding women and individuals under legal protection other than guardianship are not eligible for this study.
