ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how measuring fluid in the chest can help predict when patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) can safely stop using a ventilator. The researchers believe that understanding the amount of fluid can give doctors important information about whether a patient is ready to breathe on their own again. The trial is currently looking for participants who are adults aged 65 to 74 years and those aged 21 to 914 years who have been on a ventilator for more than 48 hours.
To be eligible, patients must have ARDS and cannot have certain other health issues like severe heart, kidney, or liver problems, as well as conditions like obesity, pregnancy, or lung infections. If someone joins the trial, they will undergo tests to measure fluid levels in their chest, and the goal is to help determine the best time for them to come off the ventilator. This research could lead to better care for patients with ARDS in the future.
