ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at ways to help people who have been injured by gun violence. Specifically, it will evaluate a program called the Houston-Hospital Violence Intervention Program (HVIP) to see how well it can prevent these individuals from experiencing further violent events after they receive care at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. The study aims to understand how this program can not only reduce repeat injuries but also improve mental health and address differences in how firearm violence affects various racial and ethnic groups.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be adults who have suffered a gunshot injury from community violence and are able to communicate in English or Spanish. They must also give their permission to be part of the study. Unfortunately, those injured by self-inflicted gunshots, accidental shootings, or domestic violence will not be eligible. Participants can expect to engage with health care providers and community specialists who are dedicated to supporting their recovery and preventing future violence. This trial is not currently recruiting participants, but it will play a crucial role in helping to develop effective strategies for reducing gun violence in the community.
