ClinConnect Summary
The TrEnd trial is studying how effective surgery is for women with deep endometriosis, specifically when it involves the sigmoid colon or rectum. Deep endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows in other areas, causing pain and other symptoms. This trial aims to collect data from women who are having surgery to remove these growths, focusing on the results and any complications that may occur after the procedure.
To participate in this trial, women must be at least 18 years old and have deep endometriotic nodules affecting the muscle layer of the sigmoid colon or rectum. However, those under 18, those with certain bowel diseases, or those who have had pelvic radiotherapy in the past are not eligible. Participants can expect to undergo a standard surgical procedure and will be monitored closely to evaluate their recovery and long-term health outcomes. This research is important as it will help doctors understand the best ways to treat deep endometriosis and improve care for future patients.
