ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new online program designed to help people manage pain after surgery. The program, called Advancing Online Psychology Tools for the Transitional Pain Service (ADOPT-TPS), uses a method called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This approach teaches mindfulness skills, which can help patients cope with pain, and provides helpful information about what to expect after surgery. The trial will compare how well this self-guided online program works compared to a traditional workshop led by a psychologist.
To participate in this trial, you need to have had surgery and received a referral to the Transitional Pain Service. It’s also important that you have access to a device that connects to the internet. However, if you’ve already received psychological treatment from the service or have a serious mental illness, you may not be eligible. The trial isn’t recruiting participants yet, but once it starts, those who join can expect to learn valuable skills to help manage their pain independently through the online platform.
