ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is exploring whether adding resistance exercise, like weight training, to the care of hospitalized patients with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) can improve their health. Many patients with T2D spend a lot of time in the hospital and often don't get enough physical activity during their stay, which can worsen their condition. This study will involve 24 hospitalized patients who will either participate in a 30-minute resistance training session each day for four weeks or receive standard care without exercise. Participants will wear devices to monitor their glucose levels and activity throughout the trial.

To be eligible, participants must be at least 18 years old, hospitalized due to an infection, and have a diagnosis of T2D. They should be able to perform basic exercises as outlined in a provided booklet. Certain health conditions, such as severe heart problems or kidney failure, may exclude individuals from joining the study. If participants are discharged from the hospital, they will have the opportunity to continue their exercise training online. This trial aims to understand if exercise can help improve glucose control and overall health for patients with T2D during their hospital stay.
