ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the use of a treatment called EKOS in patients who have experienced a serious condition known as pulmonary embolism (PE), which occurs when blood clots block blood flow to the lungs. Specifically, the trial is looking at patients who did not respond well to initial blood-thinning medications. Eligible participants are adults aged 18 and older who are diagnosed with either massive or submassive acute PE, meaning they have significant blood flow blockage. However, those who are stable or have not received the EKOS treatment will not be included in the study.

If you or a loved one is eligible and chooses to participate, the main goal is to see how the EKOS treatment affects the size of the heart’s right and left chambers over time. Participants will have their heart measurements taken at the beginning of the study and again during a follow-up visit to see if there are any improvements. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to provide important information about the effectiveness of EKOS in treating serious cases of pulmonary embolism.
