ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of two different types of jaw surgery, known as orthognathic surgery, on both the bones and soft tissues in the mouth and face. The goal is to understand how these surgeries can help people with a specific jaw alignment issue called Class III malocclusion, where the lower jaw is positioned too far forward compared to the upper jaw. The researchers will use advanced imaging techniques to take detailed pictures and measurements before and after the surgery to see how the surgeries affect the patient's overall dental health and appearance.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be at least 18 years old and have a specific type of jaw misalignment that requires surgery on both jaws. They should also have minimal crowding of their teeth, good oral hygiene, and healthy gums. However, individuals with a history of jaw injuries, certain birth defects, or missing teeth (other than wisdom teeth) will not be eligible. Those who participate can expect to have their teeth and jaw closely monitored before and after surgery, helping to advance understanding of how these surgical procedures impact both hard and soft tissues in the face.
