ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a program called "Parenting in Sweden" (PiS), which helps immigrant parents adjust to life in Sweden and support their children's growth. The program consists of five sessions that teach parents about important topics like the Swedish school system, healthcare services, and parental rights. The goal is to see if participating in this program can increase parents' trust in social services, encourage them to get their children involved in extracurricular activities, and reduce the chances of using harsh discipline.
Parents born outside of Sweden with children aged 0 to 17 years are invited to join the study, regardless of how long they've lived in Sweden. Participants will be divided into two groups: one will complete the PiS program, while the other will be on a waiting list and attend a discussion group about moving to Sweden. Everyone will fill out surveys to track changes in their trust in social services, their children's activities, and their parenting practices before and after the program, as well as six months later. This study aims to understand how such support programs can help families thrive in their new environment.
