ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how different types of exercises can help improve trunk balance in individuals with spinal cord injuries (SCI). The main goal is to see if using a wheelchair treadmill can provide better results than traditional exercises done in a wheelchair. Trunk balance is important for daily activities and mobility, so this research could lead to better rehabilitation methods for people with SCI. Participants in the study will be randomly assigned to either the treadmill exercise group or the conventional exercise group. Researchers will measure their balance, independence in daily tasks, satisfaction with their wheelchair, quality of life, and concerns about falling.

To be eligible for this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old, use a manual wheelchair, and have an SCI at the T6 level or below. They should also be able to give their consent to participate. Participants can expect to undergo assessments before and after their exercise program. Importantly, all exercises involved are part of routine care for those with SCI, and those in the conventional group will also have the chance to try the treadmill after their initial assessment. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to find effective ways to enhance rehabilitation for people living with spinal cord injuries.
