Gastroschisis Early Feeds In Gastroschisis

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called "Early Feeds in Gastroschisis," is looking at the possibility of starting to feed newborns with gastroschisis sooner than usual. Gastroschisis is a condition where babies are born with their intestines outside their bodies. The goal of this study is to see if starting feeds early is safe and helpful for these infants, who are typically born at least 34 weeks into pregnancy and are stable after a surgery to close their abdomen.

To be eligible for this trial, babies must be diagnosed with a simple case of gastroschisis and not have any major complications or other serious health issues. Mothers must be at least 16 years old and speak either English or Spanish. If you choose to participate, your baby will be monitored closely, and the study will help researchers understand the best approach to feeding infants with this condition. This trial is currently recruiting participants, so if you're interested or have questions, don’t hesitate to ask your healthcare team for more information.
