ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to help older adults living in nursing homes improve their physical function. One approach is called "exergaming," which combines exercise with video games to make physical activity more fun. The other approach is traditional physical therapy, which focuses on specific exercises prescribed by a therapist. The goal of the study is to see if one method is better than the other in helping participants move better, enjoy their therapy more, and stick with their exercise programs.
To participate, individuals must be over 60 years old and have a certain level of mental functioning, as measured by a simple cognitive test. They should also be able to stand on their own or with the help of a walking device. However, those with severe vision problems or certain medical conditions that prevent them from exercising may not be eligible. Participants will have the chance to engage in either exergaming or traditional therapy and see how these different methods impact their physical abilities and enjoyment of the exercises.
