ClinConnect Summary
The VERA-AMD study is a research project aimed at understanding how age-related macular degeneration (AMD) progresses and affects patients' quality of life. Specifically, it looks at how quickly the disease advances, what factors might predict this progression, and how it impacts vision and daily living. The study will include 200 participants aged 50 and older who have been diagnosed with AMD in at least one eye. By gathering information from routine eye care visits, researchers hope to find ways to improve the management of AMD and enhance the quality of life for those living with this condition.
If you are 50 years or older and have been diagnosed with AMD, you may be eligible to participate in this study. Participants will be monitored through their regular eye check-ups and will receive treatments that are commonly used for AMD. Throughout the study, researchers will track changes in vision and other health aspects while also using advanced technology to analyze eye fluid. This could help identify how different treatments and factors affect the progression of AMD, ultimately aiming to provide better care for patients in the future.
