ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, titled "Gut Health in Children With Cancer," is looking at how treatments for certain types of leukemia (like Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, HLH, and Burkitt Lymphoma/Leukemia) affect children's gut health. The gut microbiome, which is made up of tiny living things in our intestines, plays a big role in how our bodies work. The study aims to see how treatments like chemotherapy impact this gut microbiome and how quickly it recovers after treatment. Researchers will monitor your child's nutrition and gut health during their regular medical visits at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

To be eligible for this study, children must be between 0 and 16 years old and have been diagnosed with one of the specified types of leukemia. They need to agree to participate in the study. The researchers will observe changes in gut health and nutrition throughout treatment and recovery, which could help develop better care guidelines for other children facing similar challenges. This is the first study to focus on how feeding and nutrition specifically affect gut health during leukemia treatment, making it an important step in improving outcomes for young patients.
