ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how two sweeteners, Monk Fruit and Splenda, affect saliva's acidity and the amount of a specific bacteria called Streptococcus mutans, which is linked to tooth decay. Participants will use a mouth rinse made with these sweeteners and then have their saliva tested to see how the rinse changes the saliva’s pH (which indicates acidity) and the count of the bacteria. The study will measure these changes at different times after using the rinse.
To join this study, participants should be healthy individuals aged 20 to 24, with no current tooth decay or oral diseases. They should not have received any recent dental treatments or be taking medications that affect saliva flow. Those who have active cavities or painful oral conditions won’t be eligible. Participants can expect to provide saliva samples before and after using the mouth rinse, and the study is designed to help understand how these sweeteners might influence oral health.
